Shimla, October 31

Rich tributes were paid to Sardar Vallabh Bhai Patel on his 141st birth anniversary, observed as “national Integration Day”, by BJP leaders here today.
Union Health Minister JP Nadda was the chief guest at a function organised by the local BJP. Nadda said “it was due to wisdom and deft handling of Sardar Patel that 565 erstwhile princely states were merged with India on Independence Day on August 15, 1947,”
“Sardar Patel played a key role in the merger of states and the present map of India as nation is because of his actions and irresolute determination to keep India united,” Nadda said, adding that in spite of hailing from a family of farmers, he participated in the Champaran agitation and was one of the stalwarts of the Quit India movement.
Nadda administered national integration pledge to workers and a “run” was also organised on the occasion in which Nadda also participated.
