Arvind Kejriwal comes in defence of Navjot Singh Sidhu on ‘Yogi is bhogi’ remarks

Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal on Thursday threw his weight behind Congress minister Navjot Singh Sidhu on his remarks, calling Yogi Adityanath a bhogi (one who indulges in worldly pleasures). Kejriwal’s support came after a report said that Hindutva militant outfit Hindu Yuva Vahini had announced a Rs 1 crore bounty on Sidhu’s head for his comments mocking Adityanath.

Kejriwal tweeted, “The message from the BJP is clear. Only those, who accept the slavery of the BJP, will be allowed to stay alive in this country. It doesn’t matter whether they are Muslims, Hindus, Sikhs, Jains or Christians. Those who speak against the BJP will be murdered regardless of the religion they belong to.”

Addressing a rally in Rajasthan recently, Sidhu had said that even chaukidar’s (PM Narendra Modi) dog was not loyal and a thief. Yogi is the biggest bhogi.”

Times of India quoted one Tarun Singh of Hindu Yuva Vahini, an armed militant Hindutva group, founded by Adityanath himself, as saying that he would chop Sidhu into pieces if he visited Agra in future. Singh is the district president of Agra unit of Hindu Yuva Vahini.

The call for Sidhu’s assassination by Adityanath’s outfit came days after Sambit Patra asked the cricketer-turned-politician to leave India and join the cabinet of Pakistani Prime Minister Imran Khan. This was after Khan had showered praises on Sidhu’s efforts to improve ties between India and Pakistan during the event to open the Kartarpur corridor.
