A pregnant mum with two children has been living in a flat so mouldy the bed has been rotted completely through.

For the three years Charley Lucas has lived in her Coventry home mould has been a big issue.

It has crept up the walls and founds its way onto her children's clothes.

Despite property owners Whitefriars insisting work has been done to stop its spread, Charlie still finds herself scrubbing the walls with bleach

Bed sheets and blankets have been covered in the green and black substance, with one of the wooden bed frames so rotten it collapsed.

Charley claims she has been forced to throw a number of belongings out because they have been ruined by the mould and damp.

She said: "I am feeling really frustrated. It is breaking me and I'm at breaking point.

"It was about June 2017 I noticed small bits of damp and mould but thought that just with every property.

"A couple of weeks later my bed collapsed, and that was when I realised something wasn't right.

"I contacted them and am having to fight them to get people out."

Despite the house receiving repairs and a new layer of plaster on the kid's bedroom walls a year a half ago, the problem is not going away.

"It is on my kids' clothes, they are constantly ill, and I'm seven months pregnant - we shouldn't live like this," the mum continued.

"I can't move as I have nowhere else to go and they have told me they are not willing to move me as they think it is still habitable.

"They've made me scrub the walls with bleach and I'm seven months pregnant.

"Even though they say they have done work it just doesn't seem to have worked.

"I just don't know what to do anymore."

A spokesperson for Whitefriars Housing said the company had agreed to remove the mould but had been hindered by the angry residents.

“These are not severe and are not significant enough to move her out of her home while the work is completed," they said.

“On a visit to Ms Lucas’s home earlier this month to establish how to approach this work members of our team were forced to leave after being subjected to extreme verbal abuse by Ms Lucas and her partner.

“We are continuing to work with Ms Lucas to address the issues in her home.”

Charley said she asked a housing officer to leave her property after she asked the mum if she let her kids sleep under mouldy blankets.

"I asked her to leave politely as that comment was unacceptable, she refused to leave the property," Charley said.

"While I agree there was confrontation between them and my partner I showed no aggression what so ever, in fact I was on the phone to my mother at the time having a panic attack because the comment made me feel as though I am failing as a parent.

"If Whitefriars truly believed we were both aggressive I don't understand why social services were not called in as both my children were present at that time.

"Whitefriars have failed to work with me and have failed to carry out repairs which should have been done over the three year period in which I have been at the address not only raised by myself but also my local MP Geoffrey Robinson.

"I truly believe that Whitefriars are refusing to take responsibility for allowing this to continue to this extent and are even trying to turn it around on myself and make me look like a bad person."
