- Apple will launch three iPhone models, including iPhone XR successor in 2019.
- The highest price iPhone variant will come with a triple-rear camera setup.
- The other two iPhone variants will come with a dual-rear camera setup.
It has barely been three months since Apple introduced three new iPhones- the iPhone XR, the iPhone XS and the iPhone XS Max- that reports of company's 2019 iPhone models has already started buzzing on the internet. And the word on the street is that the Cupertino, California based company is planning to launch three new iPhone models this year.
According to a report by the Wall Street Journal, Apple is planning to launch three new iPhone models in 2019, including a successor to its more popular iPhone XR. While the highest price iPhone model is expected to sport a triple-camera setup at the back, the other two less-expensive iPhone models will get a dual-camera setup at the back, people familiar with the matter told the publication.
Notably, the new report is in agreement with another a render that came out earlier month giving a glimpse of what iPhone XI could hold for us in 2019. The leaked render of the iPhone XI showed a square bump-like structure at the back of the iPhone on which a triple-rear camera setup sat with a flash at the back. However, the iPhone XI, when it comes out later this year, could look radically different from the leaked render.
Notably, the report of Apple continuing with its trend of launching three iPhone models this year comes just days after its chief executive officer Tim Cook revised sales guidelines for the final quarter of 2018. Cook, in a letter to the investors, announced that Apple was cutting the quarterly revenue for the final fiscal quarter for 2018. He blamed a series of factors including its battery replacement program, which gave the iPhone users a less costlier alternative to purchasing costly iPhones, the souring trade ties between the United States and China, and the iPhone users upgrading their iPhones less frequently for the reduced sales forecast. For reference, iPhone sales is one of the biggest revenue generating sources for the tech giant.
The revised guidance had a ripple effect on the company's market value, which in turn lead to the value of Apple's shares falling by 10 per cent in the market.
Meanwhile, the revised guidance also prompted several Chinese retailers including JD.com and Alibaba-owned Suning to slash iPhone prices in the country. Some retailers are discounting up to $118 (Rs 8,200 approximately) for the 64GB variant of iPhone XR. For reference, the 64GB variant of iPhone XR is priced at $749 in the US.
