Absconding firm director caught

Bettiah: A team of Delhi police’s economic offences wing, in coordination with East Champaran police, on Wednesday nabbed the director of a real estate company who was absconding for the past two years, duping investors of over Rs 1,000 crore.

Vikash Gupta, the director of Earth Infrastructure Limited, was picked up from Nawkathwa village under Gamgarhwa police station limits of East Champaran by a three-member Delhi police team led by sub-inspector Manish Kumar.

Confirming the arrest, Gamgarhwa police officer in-charge Rajesh Kumar said Vikash Gupta was taken to Delhi on transit remand after he was produced in court.

A resident of Dwarik colony in Delhi, Vikash was reportedly living in the village for the past five months.

“Tis Hazari court (in Delhi) had declared him a proclaimed offender. He was traced on the basis of technical survillence,” said a member from the Delhi police team who refused to be identified.

Gupta was on the run from after a case of cheating, criminal breach of trust and criminal conspiracy was registered against him by the economic offences wing under Sections 406, 409, 120B and 420 in April 2016.

According to Delhi police, Earth Infrastructures Limited has sold around 11 real estate projects to thousands of buyers all over India and abroad. Three directors of the company, namely Avdesh Kumar Goel, Rajnish Mittal and Atul Gupta, are cooling their heels behind bars. Director Vikash Gupta was at large and later the Tis Hazari court declared him a proclaimed offender.

Earth Infrastructure Limited had launched projects in Noida, Greater Noida and Gurgaon but failed to complete the project in the past seven years.
