Another shocker from Karnataka! To settle Rs 500 loan, man marries friend's wife
Bengaluru: Some cases give a new meaning to the word bizarre. This case from Karnataka is one of those. A man created a scene outside the deputy commissioner's office in Belgavi and held a dharna for his wife. One would think of it as another ordinary day but as the story of the man unfolded, everyone was left super shocked.
The man claimed that his wife was abducted and married to another man for his inability to pay a loan of Rs 500. The complainant, Basavaraj Konannavar, further gave a more bizarre reason for the same. According to a report in The Times of India, he said that his wife was taken away from him by his friend, Ramesh Hukkeri, because he was unable to pay a loan of Rs 500.
However, if sources are to be believed, there are a lot of details Basavaraj missed while filing his complaint to the police.
It is said that both became friends while working for a hotel in Shahpur as suppliers. It is at the hotel where both met Parvati, the woman in the eye of the storm. She used to work there and allegedly was close to both the men.
However, she married Basavaraj in 2011 and became the mother to a girl who is 3-year-old now. She was pregnant with her second child when she was allegedly kidnapped a couple of months ago. The oddities don't end here as the accused, Ramesh is also married and has sent his wife back to her maternal home in order to get married to Parvati. Both the married people went ahead and married each other and have been living together since.
When Basavaraj came to know of it, he confronted his friend and also his wife. To his surprise, his wife Parvati refused to return to him. His friend Ramesh then threatened him and told him to stay away from Parvati. Perturbed by the entire episode, police commissioner DC Rajappa has ordered the police to take up the case.
