'Bullet' Nagarajan remanded, sent to Tiruchi prison

Nagarajan alias ‘Bullet’ Nagarajan, who allegedly posted objectionable messages in the social media against officials, was remanded in 15-day judicial custody on Tuesday.
He allegedly abused the Superintendent of Madurai Central Prison, Inspector of Thenkarai Police Station and later the Theni Collector and Superintendent of Police through Whatsapp. Special teams were formed to arrest him and they had been closely monitoring his movements for the three days. Nagarajan was nabbed at Melmangalam in Theni district, his native place, in the wee hours of Monday. Counterfeit currency notes, fake seals of advocates and a sub-judge, two toy guns and knives were seized from him.
Based on his confession, Thenkarai police registered cases against him under Sections 294b, 323, 506 (2), 465, 468, 471, 453, 259 and 420 of the IPC.
Nagarajan was produced before Periyakulam Judicial Magistrate Arun Kumar, who remanded him in judicial custody. Later, the police took him to Tiruchi Central Prison.
Haneefa in court
Mohamed Haneefa alias Tenkasi Haneefa, who allegedly issued to threat to a CB-CID officer in Batlagundu in 2012, appeared before a court here on Tuesday.
According to police records, when BJP leader L.K. Advani and others visited Madurai and were proceeding to southern districts in 2011, a pipe bomb exploded near Tirumangalam. After investigation, the police detected the involvement of ‘Police’ Fakrudeen, Haneefa and others in the blast.
When the police traced Haneefa to Batlagundu and attempted to nab him, he threatened a DSP-rank officer, Karthikeyan. He was finally arrested and a fresh case was registered against him. Later, he was let out on bail. Principal and District Sessions Judge Murali Shankar posted the case to September 18.
