Dressed up in their formal best, over 90 men and women rode through the streets of Agra to raise awareness about prostate cancer and men’s mental health at the recently organised The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride. The ride, which was started in Sydney, takes place in over 600 cities across 95 countries in the world.
In Agra, it kicked off from the Agra Club, passed through MG Road, Diwani Crossing and Sadar Bazaar, before coming back to the club. The event was flagged off by Col S Kunzroo, Secretary of Agra Club, and Prashant Kumar, SP, Traffic. Ravi Kumar NG, District Magistrate, was the chief guest at the event and Amit Pathak, SSP, Agra, was the guest of honour. Riding for a cause
After the ride concluded, oncologist Dr Sandeep Agarwal and Dr Ravi Pachauri, President of Indian Medical Association, gave speeches on prostate cancer and men’s health. The ride was organised by the members of WeRoyal Riders, a city-based motorcycle club. Sanjay Baijal, a member of the club, said, “The dress code is one of the main reasons behind the popularity of this ride. It is important that people take their health seriously and get proper treatment. We aim to spread the same message through this ride.” Amit David, another member of the club and a resident of Shamshabad Road, said, “I was feeling honoured to ride for a cause. Also, dressing up and riding with your pals gives you a different feeling. I really enjoyed it. It was a well-organised event as Agra Police helped the bikers in ensuring a hassle-free ride." Charlene Scaife, a resident of the Mall Road, said, “This is the first time I have associated myself with such a cause. It was great to be a part of this prestigious ride.” Riders' day out
