SKUAST-J celebrates Van Mahotsav 2018

Van Mahotsav was celebrated at SKUAST-Jammu here today. The annual planting festival is celebrated in India since 1950 at the initiative of K.M. Munshi, the then Union Minister for Agriculture and Food. Prof. Pradeep K. Sharma, Vice-Chancellor, SKUAST-J was the Chief Guest on this occasion. The Vice-Chancellor laid emphasis on planting more trees during annual Van Mahotsav festival to mitigate the adverse impacts on climate change and for maintaining ecological balance. Van Mahotsav was organized by the Division of Agroforestry, SKUAST-J, Chatha under the aegis of Dr. D. P. Abrol, Dean, Faculty of Agriculture. On this occasion the statuary officers, HOD’S, Senior Professors, scientists and students planted saplings of bottle brush, cassia and karanj in the University Campus at Chatha.
