Fans of Chai Tea Lattes are set to go wild for Starbucks' three new tea-based milky drinks which have just launched into its UK stores.

The coffee shop giant has launched a Matcha Tea Latte, a Rooibos Tea Latte and a limited-edition Red Apple Rooibos Tea Latte, which are all available from today in UK stores.

The three new flavours - which are priced from £2.75 for a Short drink - are all under 165 calories in the Tall size when made with semi-skimmed milk as standard. Two of them are caffeine free.

The Matcha Tea Latte replaces the Green Tea Latte and now has no added sugar.

The new lattes are part of a new range of Teavana Tea Lattes which brewers at Starbucks have been working on for three years.

They differ from normal tea lattes because they are made with microground tea - a way of extracting flavour from tea leaves - before being blended with steamed milk by baristas.

They are also made from pure tea instead of being combined with syrup or tea powder, which means that two of the drinks - the Rooibos Tea Latte and the Matcha Tea Latte - contain no added sugar.

A Starbucks spokesman said: By crafting the tea latte this way all the flavour is intensified to create a delicious drink.'

What are the new Teavana Tea Latte drinks at Starbucks?

The Rooibos and the limited-edition Red Apple Rooibos Tea Latte are also caffeine-free.

The new drinks can also be made with dairy alternatives such as Almond, Soy, Coconut or Oat, which can lower the calorie content even further.

Starbucks tea category manager, Charlotta Oldham said: 'Our new Teavana Tea Lattes are a new way of extracting flavour from tea leaves, where the tea leaves are ground into a very fine powder and then blended with steamed milk – a recipe only possible thanks to the experience and craftsmanship of our baristas.'

From March ! until April 25, customers can buy four Starbucks Tea Lattes and receive the fifth for free using a Tea Latte stamp card.

Starbucks will also be hosting 'Tea Tuesday' on March 6, where customers can enjoy a tall Tea Latte for free in store between 3 and 6pm.
