Woman's shoe on the other's door ends up in a major fracas
Rakesh Naik (32), a resident of the Ambedkar Chawl in Vakola Datta Mandir Road, who was irritated with his female neighbour for some time now, on Tuesday morning found a very petty reason to fight with her. Post the fight on Tuesday, the man is now in the cops net for assaulting the neighbour with an iron stand, even as the neighbour has landed in the hospital.
The victim Mantadevi Jha (30) is a homemaker and her house was opposite Naik's. She was assaulted by him for leaving behind her footwear outside the door of his house. She was hit on the head with an iron LPG Gas Stand and is undergoing treatment in a hospital at Vile Parle.
On Tuesday morning, Naik stepped outside his house and saw Jha's footwear kept outside his door after which, he knocked on Jha's door, opposite his house and started shouting at her and asking her as to why her footwear was kept outside his door. Upon seeing an angry Naik, Jha told him that she would move the footwear away, but Naik allegedly started an argument with her. Later, she called her husband to deal with the problem. Naik is said to have pushed the victim on her chest and also molested her.
Even after assaulting her, Naik's rage didn't reduce so, he went back to his house and returned with an iron LPG stand and hit Jha on the head, leaving her wounded. Jha was immediately rushed to the VN Desai hospital where she sustained stitches on her head and the Vakola police were later informed about the matter.
In her statement to the Vakola Police, the victim Jha said, “It is not the first time when Naik has bashed me and my husband up. He often used to abuse us without any reason. My husband runs an auto-rickshaw, due to which we did not want to get into an argument with him, but he always looks for reasons to fight with us.”
According to the Vakola Police sources, the accused Naik has been booked under sections 323, 326, 354, 504 and 506 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). He was produced before the Bandra court on Wednesday, from where he was sent to Police custody.
